Notes
Live archive release from the legendary New Zeland band. Toy Love's music was in a constant state of formation and reformation throughout the band's existence: songs would warp and twist with every playing. So, for all it's undeniable power, it appeared unstable, almost fragile, threatening to burst out of it's own skin, shards and globs all over the place. Every gig was like another attempt to make this strange creature hold together and live. At times, it would only take off at a few unpredictable points, at others it would lift off immediately and roar through the air, an astonishingly compelling and unlikely flying thing full of dark folds and flashes of light. The best stuff was transcendent, and the near-failures were so often funny or had the buzzy pathos of a crash site, one couldn't look away. This release captures the legendary band in September 1980 at the Gluepot in Ponsonby, Auckland, one of their final live performances. The recording was transferred and prepared for vinyl mastering by Steve McGough at Stabbings from a desk tape recorded by the band's soundman Doug Hood.

Fantastic seller to deal with. Kept me informed and were super helpful and friendly. Provided tracking information so I could see where my order was and when to expect delivery. Considering that it had to come from the States, it arrived here in the UK very quickly. Very well packaged and exactly as described, I’m delighted with my dvd. Thank you so very much for your 5* service 😊

  • A nice Tall Dwarfs "pre-history"......

This is a really energetic release of classic New Zealand punk featuring a young Chris Knox and Alex Bathgate from the Tall Dwarfs fame. There are drop-out occasionally throughout the show, but the sound is really very listenable(although MONO)....but these versions of this band's songs are much more true to life than their studio output, which was said to have been overproduced. Very recommended to anyone who knows Chris and company from his later recordings,.....and also to anyone who ever read the last issue of Forced Exposure magazine and wanted to expand on what was written in it about Mr. Knox's past exploits!
